Furthermore, an extreme change of the temperature can cause the egg shell to crack during the cooking process. Therefore, you should heat the eggs before putting them in hot water because it prevents them from cracking. This can be done in 2 ways: take the eggs out of your fridge and then leave them at room temperature; another option is to allow them to sit in hot tap water for a few minutes.

In case you want to get eggs with a soft yolk, dip them in some hot water with a tablespoon for around three minutes.
