A 4-month-old baby falls to his death after his grandmother loses her grip on him following a tripping escalator accident.
A CCTV footage shows the granny was holding her grandson, approaching the 3rd-floor escalator of the Wu Yue Plaza department store, in Qingpu district of Shanghai.
Holding the baby on the left side, she uses her right arm to stabilize herself as she grabs the escalator handrail.
But suddenly a tragic accident unfolds, she lost her footing and in split second she loses her grip on the baby.
The boy flung on the side and falls 3 stories high.
The baby was brought to the hospital who he fell from a height of about 30 feet but unfortunately, he succumbs to his injuries.
According to authorities reviewing the CCTV footage, the escalator is apparently on ‘power-saving mode’, meaning it will only move if somebody gets on it.
This might be the reason why the grandmother suddenly loses her footing the moment she stepped on the escalator.
Our condolences to the family of the poor baby…
