Baby Dominic proves he’s still adorable years after surgery for ‘pinocchio nose’

There’s an extraordinary spot in everybody’s heart for a baby who has therapeutic inconveniences during childbirth. Everybody holds out trust that specialists and medical attendants can pull through and give the child a practical chance at a normal life.

One young boy’s story is being shared online in light of the fact that it is both bizarre and incredibly inspiring. Dominic Gundrum was born with a golf ball-sized development all over and was offered hours to live. What the specialists soon acknowledged was that a facial abnormality led to part of his brain growing outside of his head.

A routine ultrasound changed Mark and Mary Gundrum’s life forever.

The Gundrum’s were expecting their eighth child, and they were excited to see their new baby via ultrasound. Doctors discovered that brain tissue began to develop outside of fetus’s face. The Gundrum’s were told that their baby would only live for hours after birth.

Remarkably, when little Dominic was born, he didn’t die. He began to flourish and respond to live-saving measures better than anyone expected.

A facial cleft led to a portion of Dominic’s brain tissue to move out of his face during fetal development.

Mark and Mary, who already had seven children before Dominic, dealt with the heartbreaking dilemma with the support of their church and spiritual community.

“We did a lot of soul-searching,” said Mary Gundrum in an interview with the Boston Globe. “I was thinking, ‘That’s my child. It’s that simple. I’m not going to take the life of my child.’”

The Gundrum’s children didn’t care about the fact that Dominic’s face was different — they loved him immediately.

Here is Dominic getting a little rest in his big sister’s arms.
